The Filthy HabitAt The Chicago Fringe Festival
Join us as we present the Chicago Fringe Festival's first opera! The Chicago Fringe Festival is a leading theatre festival taking place this September in Jefferson Park. And we're bringing opera to the stage! A comic intermezzo in the spirit of Pergolesi's La Serva Padrona, The Filthy Habit updates the story of Wolf-Ferarri's Il Segreto di Susanna for modern times. Set in Manhattan in the summer of 2003, Habit tells the story of a newlywed couple's struggle with Mayor Bloomberg's new smoking ban. Book by Chicago librettist Matt Boresi and a jazz score by Peter Hilliard, accompanied by a close-harmony trio of singers serving as Greek chorus. Habit is an entertaining look at honesty and compromise in relationships. Performances Announced! We are excited to announce the dates of our performances at the Chicago Fringe Festival. Saturday, September 3rd @ 7PM Monday, September 5th @ 2:30PM Friday, September 9th @ 8:30PM All performances take place at the CCJP Meeting Hall at 5320 W. Giddings, Chicago. |
